Julius Stahl was born in 1978 in Dortmund, Germany. He lives and works in Berlin and Dresden, Germany.

Elementary phenomena of perception are at the centre of his work. His works move between the boundaries of seeing and hearing. They are made of wire, aluminium or even pure light and are set in vibration by sounds.

Barely audible sounds become visible in waveforms that seem to stand in space as fine lines. Surfaces of light slowly take on spatial forms. Softly sounding reliefs are surrounded by transparent sound spaces.

He also recorded the resulting phenomena graphically, in the form of luminograms and photograms, as records on light-sensitive paper.
